Saddleback Writers Guild
A workshop for writers committed to their craft

Goal
Writers should have a level of skill to produce a professional manuscript. Guild members are eager to assist, provide guidance and helpful suggestions.

Purpose
The group is mainly dedicated to producing ficton. Other writing forms (short stoies, essays, screenplays) are encouraged. The Guild was formed to listen, assist and recommend changes to improve plot, structure, pacing, characterization and grammar in a nurturing environment.

Attendees
Our meetings are held at Carrows Restaurant in Laguna Hills, at 23952 Avenida de Carlota , on most Monday evenings from 6:30 until 8:30. Writers should bring approx. 7-8 copies to distribute to the group. The format is double-spaced, left justified margin, 10-12 pages maximum.

Decorum
In order to improve efficiency, keep productivity high and keep disruption to a minimum, there will be no ordering of dinner, only beverages at the beginning of a meeting. Please do not dine during the meeting.

  • No interruption of reading if you arrive late
  • Refill drinks only during a reader break
  • Minimize noise during a read
  • No invitations of non-writers to meetings

New Members
New writers are invited to visit and observe meeting protocol and dynamics for a time or two. They may also bring a chapter, following the guidelines listed above.

Networking
A concerted effort is underway to communicate with the community, literary agents, publishers, etc. to let others know of completed works.
